RECOMMENDED DECKS(Black) Yamato

June 12, 2026
Use Characters with a penchant for transforming to attack at high speed! A Land of Wano deck focused on making the most of your trash!

Concept

Introducing Yamato as a black Leader specializing in making use of your trash.
Start off by playing {Land of Wano} type Characters with effects geared towards gathering cards in your trash. Once you've assembled a bunch, you can then transform your 6-cost Yamato into several different 8-cost versions. You can also use your Leader's effect to give Characters you play from your trash [Rush]. Keep the transformation abilities of your Animal cards in mind, and pick the best one for the situation.

Deck Breakdown

Early Game

Your Leader, Yamato, can give all Characters you play from your trash [Rush]. Make sure you get any Characters you want to give [Rush] to in your trash early-game to make the most of this effect.
Character cards "OP16-091 Nami" and "OP16-092 Nico Robin" pair particularly well with it, as you can use their [On Play] effects to both manage your hand and increase the amount of cards in your trash.
Aim to secure 6-cost "OP16-098 Yamato" in your hand while gathering 8-cost Yamato cards in your trash to set the stage for the match.

You can use the [On Play] effect of "OP16-082 Kin'emon" to assemble any {Land of Wano} type cards you need while filling up your trash.
Unlike "OP16-091 Nami" and "OP16-092 Nico Robin", its 6000 power makes it a viable attacker even after you've used its [On Play] effect.
It also has an effect that raises its cost while it's on the field, making it harder for it to be K.O.'d by Events and Character effects.

Mid Game

Next, play "OP16-098 Yamato" and use its [Activate: Main] effect. This will allow you to trash it in exchange for an 8-cost Yamato from your trash.
As its [On Play] effect allows you to draw 1 card and trash another, you can trash an 8-cost Yamato from your hand in advance to set up for any future plays.
The Yamato you play from your trash will gain [Rush] due to your Leader's effect. Get a powerful Yamato on your field early in the game and take advantage of [Rush] to deal a blow to your opponent.

There are two 8-cost Yamato cards in this deck that you can swap your "OP16-098 Yamato" with.
The first is "OP16-096 Yamato", a versatile card that allows you to add 1 {Land of Wano} type card with a cost of 6 or less from your trash to your hand with its [On Play] effect, before letting you play another {Land of Wano} type Character card with a cost of 2 or less from your hand.
The second is "OP16-097 Yamato", which not only has [Unblockable], but also allows you to return the "OP16-098 Yamato" you swapped it with to the field with its [On K.O.] effect, making it a tricky card for your opponent to deal with.
Be sure to consider your current situation when deciding which card to transform your "OP16-098 Yamato" into.

End Game

Continue playing cards from your trash, and use [Rush] to keep up the offensive on your opponent.
Once you have more than 9 DON!! cards, you can use "OP16-084 Kouzuki Momonosuke" in combination with "OP16-087 Shinobu" to activate its [Activate: Main] effect! This allows you to swap it with a 9-cost "OP16-085 Kouzuki Momonosuke" in your trash.
"OP16-085 Kouzuki Momonosuke" also has an [On Play] effect which allows you to play a {Land of Wano} type Character card with a cost of 6 or less from your trash.
Any cards you play from your trash will gain [Rush] thanks to your Leader effect, so you'll be able to attack as soon as you play them.

"OP16-098 Yamato" is a great card to play with this effect.
Once you've attacked with it, you can use its [Activate: Main] effect to swap it with an 8-cost Yamato in your trash, giving you even more chances to attack your opponent.
If you swapped it with "OP16-096 Yamato", you can then use its [On Play] effect to retrieve "OP16-084 Kouzuki Momonosuke" from your trash or play "OP16-087 Shinobu".
Consider setting up a combo which will allow you to play "OP16-085 Kouzuki Momonosuke" again.
